Zagg continues to innovate and redefine what the modern mobile office can look like. Every day more people are switching to using iPads instead of laptops when they are on the move, and that is thanks in no small part to the many innovations Zagg has been churning out. First came the ZaggMate (or Logitech Keyboard Case as it’s known now), then the ZaggFolio with their ZaggKeys SOLO keyboard, and now we have a brand new bluetooth iPad keyboard called the ZaggKeys FLEX. Why release another keyboard when they already have two other perfectly good ones? Find out inside!

A Truly Standalone Keyboard

The new ZaggKeys FLEX keyboard is a standalone keyboard and stand that is designed to work with most bluetooth enabled smartphones and tablets. It stands apart from its predecessors in that the keyboard is truly standalone and does not double as a stand for the iPad. Instead, there is a specially designed Smart Stand that you can fold into position to act as a very nice stand for your tablet. This microfiber lined Smart Stand doubles as a keyboard case/cover for the actual FLEX keyboard. It’s a nifty little package that is small, portable, and adaptable. It is also quite versatile as well since it will support all sorts of tablets and smart phones.

The ZaggKeys FLEX-ability

The ZaggKeys FLEX is the most flexible keyboard Zagg has made yet. This is both good and bad. The keyboard itself is similar in style to the ZaggKeys Solo, except for a few key differences. There is no built in stand on this one, which makes it both thinner and lighter. This means that it is much more flexible in how you use and position it. The stand allows you to position the iPad at any angle or distance you prefer while keeping the keyboard nice and close. Also, instead of being constructed out of aluminum, this keyboard is constructed out of a silver colored plastic. While this does make the keyboard lightweight, it also makes it feel a little fragile, especially when you see how easy it is to twist and bend it.

The keyboard though works like a charm, the island style keys provide a wonderful typing experience and a satisfying feel when being pressed. There are over a dozen specialized keys on this keyboard to aid in using it with your tablet, and it takes all of 15 seconds to pair it with the iPad. The battery inside is also quite powerful and will last for multiple months without needing to be recharged.

Our Favorite iPad Keyboard Yet!

Even though we aren’t particularly fans of the plastic construction of the ZaggKeys FLEX, we do still love this keyboard. It’s small size pops easily into any bag, and it is especially convenient to have the keyboard not be attached directly to the iPad. We like to set the iPad back a ways from our keyboard when typing, and this new innovation allows us to do that.

Overall, this is our favorite keyboard to come out of the Zagg laboratories yet! It’s versatility and adaptability are unmatched, and it’s even a 2012 CES honoree in the field of innovations!
